Eagle View Ranch By: Nolan Turner

Wyoming, oh cold Wyoming. While we were in Wyoming, one of the places we went to was Eagle View Ranch. It was fun in so many ways, and mainly these three reasons.

About two miles behind Eagle View Ranch is a place called Warm Springs Canyon where we did our backcountry section of the trip. Since it is bear country, we had to put up bear bags to protect our food. We also had to set our tents in a horseshoe formation for bear safety.

One of the nice things about Eagle View Ranch is that we got to do school inside because it is SOAR’s other base. While we were there, the snow was so deep (taller than me) that we were able to build snow caves, which are much more warmer than you would expect.

Dubois, the town near EVR is where Jeremy lives. We went to Jeremy’s house and got to eat deer and elk meat. There is a shooting range in Dubois, which is where we did riflery. The guns we shot were .22’s and Jeremy’s BIG rifle (a mosin nagant).

After almost four months at SOAR, I liked Wyoming the best. Two weeks left at SOAR already? No way. Two weeks until I am back home to see my friends and family again.
